Looking forward to living with a complete stranger? Don’t worry. You’ll both be UNLV students eager to make the most of your time at UNLV. With plenty of time to get to know each other, you’ll make some great memories.
Roommates are matched based upon your answers to the Roommate Preference Section of the Residence and Dining Hall Contract. Questions focus on:
- Attitudes toward alcohol use
- Day/night activity levels
- Cleanliness preferences
- Sharing your stuff
Answer these questions honestly and frankly. Your responses greatly determine who your roommate will be.
Getting along
You and your roommate may not see eye-to-eye on all of your living preferences, so it’s important to work together to appreciate each other’s diversity and resolve any differences.
If you’re not able to work things out, you may request reassignment from the Campus Housing office. Requests will be accommodated on space available basis and you may lose your assignment in a special floor or complex. Check the important dates page for the deadline for each semester.
Roommate requests
If you and another student would like to be roommates, you must list each other’s name and Rebel Card L number on the preference form. If you want to share a suite with another student, you must both list the other’s name and Rebel Card L number. (Remember, all roommates and suitemates must be the same gender.) Then, submit your contracts with the preference forms at the same time.
Campus Housing will do their best to accommodate matching requests received at the same time when your paperwork is complete and space is available. Apply early to increase your chances of being matched to your requested roommate/suitemate.
