Configuring Mac OS X for UNLV’s ResNet
Before you get started:

You will need a Category 5e Patch Cable or a Category 6 Patch Cable. Plug your Patch Cable into your Ethernet card in your computer and into the correct wall jack.
Checking your current Ethernet Settings

Click on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

Choose “System Preferences” from the menu.

Click on the “Network” icon to open network preferences

Select Built-in Ethernet in the Show drop down menu.

If necessary, select Using DHCP in the Configure menu.

LEAVE ALL OTHER BOXES BLANK

Click the Apply Now button.

Close the Network Preferences box.
Registering Your Computer

Open your Web Browser

If the UNLV ResNet Registration page does not open automatically, type resnet.unlv.edu into the address bar and press enter.

Once you reach the registration page, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS on the registration page.

When prompted to enter a Username and Password, enter your Pioneer webmail/ Rebel Mail login and password.

If you do not remember your Username and/or Password, please contact Student Affairs Technology Help Desk, and we will reset your password for you.

Remember that:
-
@unlv.nevada.edu is NOT part of your username.

Your Username is all lower-case letters.
-
Your Password is case-sensitive.
