ResNet provides a high speed internet connection to students while they live in the residence halls for E-mail, research, and personal enrichment. The connection is through network connections provided in every room with one port per resident. In order to connect to the network you will need a computer which meets our requirements, agreement to the network policies, a working Network Interface Card, and the proper Category 5 cabling. For more information, please refer to Connecting to ResNet
Warning: When purchasing a computer, make sure the computer is Ethernet compatible.
Notes & Warnings:
Some consumer brand and/or home use only computers are not designed to operate on networks, or do not work well on networks. Also, some computers designed for small offices will not work properly on our large network. Just because a computer is claimed to be "Internet Ready" does not mean it will work on our network.
We are only responsible for the proper operation of the network in Campus Housing up to the port in your room. If you have more than a trivial difficulty with connecting to the network, you are responsible for correcting that problem.
Every computer is different and while we are willing to offer advice on how to get your system connected to the UNLV network, we cannot guarantee that your equipment is capable of successfully connecting to or operating on the UNLV network.
