Your room will be your home while you’re at UNLV, so give it a more personal touch keeping in mind that:
- You cannot install or affix anything permanent or damaging to your room including the walls, doors, ceilings, or floors.
- You are sharing a relatively small space with another person.
Things to bring to UNLV:
Must haves:
- Driver’s license or state-issued identification card
- Original social security card or certified copy of your birth certificate
- Alarm clock
- Bedding (pillow, mattress pad, sheets, blanket and comforter) You do not need to bring extra long sheets.
- Towels and washcloths
- Clothes hangers
- Personal care products including toilet paper
- Laundry and cleaning supplies
Optional items:
- Refrigerator (2 cubic feet or less)
- Computer
- Silverware and drinking glasses
- Clothes iron
- Radio or stereo with headphones
- Personal recreation equipment (tennis racket, basketball, etc.)
- Coffee pot (with enclosed heating element)
- Mini vacuum cleaner
Things not to bring to UNLV:
- Pets (except for fish)
- Firearms or weapons of any type (real, fake, or toys)
- Microwave ovens (except for a microwave/refrigerator unit from Micro 101 Solutions)
- Flammable fluids
- Candles, incense, or potpourri pots with an open flame
- Grills, stoves, hot plates, or toaster ovens
- Fireworks or explosives
- Heating elements or space heaters
- Sun lamps
- Electric blankets
- Halogen lamps
Shipping your stuff
Mail service will begin on the first day of classes.
If you plan to ship your belongings to campus, check the important dates section of this website. Ship to:

If you send packages to UNLV Campus Housing or the general UNLV address, they may not be accepted and may be returned to sender.
