Why Live on Campus > Freshman Housing

During your first year at college, you’ll meet new friends, go new places, face exciting challenges, and experience independent living. You’ll also develop leadership skills, participate in fun campus events, study like you’ve never studied before, and in the end, you’ll learn more about yourself.

With all this new activity, many students feel overwhelmed and sometimes a little nervous. At UNLV, we want to help you succeed. If you’re a freshman coming from a high school outside of Clark County, Nevada and you’re taking more than 6 credits, UNLV requires that you live on campus during your first year. This regulation is meant to help smooth your transition from high school to college.

As with any rule, there are a few exceptions.
