Decorating

You are allowed to move the furniture around your room as long as it is safe and in compliance with the Instructions for Safe and Effective Bed System Use. Please note that creating loft beds is not an option for UNLV campus residents, as guard rails are not available.

All furniture must remain in the assigned room at all times. If you rearrange the furniture in your room, you need to return it to its original position prior to moving out. In addition, there is no additional storage available to campus residents outside their rooms. Residents cannot install or affix anything in the room that will be permanent or will damage the walls, doors, ceilings, or floor.

In the interest of safety, please note that the following items/arrangements are prohibited in the residence halls:

  • Lofts
  • Placement of beds on other furniture
  • Cinder blocks
  • Waterbeds

Refrigerators and Microwaves

You are allowed to keep a refrigerator of approximately 2.0 cubic feet or less in your room. All refrigerators must be emptied, cleaned, and disconnected at every semester break. You can rent a microwave/refrigerator unit from Micro 101 Solutions.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Residents sharing a room/suite are mutually responsible for the cleaning and regular upkeep of their rooms and bathroom. Your room and bathroom must be thoroughly cleaned at the end of each semester. If you and your suitemates agree to maintain it regularly, you’ll avoid the stress of deep cleaning during finals week and avoid paying extra cleaning fees when you move out.

Check out some cleaning tips to keep your room and suite spic and span!

Service Requests

Need assistance in resolving a maintenance or service concern? Fill out a Maintenance Request at your complex office. It will immediately be forwarded to the maintenance shop between the hours of 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Every attempt is made to address your request within 24 hours, excluding weekends. In the event of an emergency (e.g., an overflowing toilet), contact your RA immediately for assistance.

Keys

You are responsible for your room and mailbox keys. Your RebelCard will give you access to your building. Do not lend them to others. If you lose your keys or they are stolen, please contact your complex office immediately to complete a lock change.

If you accidentally lock yourself out of your room, bring your RebelCard to the complex office to borrow a key.

Conservation is key!

Living in a desert environment, we are constantly reminded of our resource limitations. Please take care to protect our ecosystem by following some simple, everyday guidelines.

Save water:

  • Turn water off when not in use.
  • Respect the water-saving landscaping around campus.
  • Notify your complex office of leaks in your shower or sink.
  • Report damaged sprinkler heads to the Campus Housing Office.

Save energy:

  • Adjust your thermostat when you’re away from your room.
  • Turn off all lights and unnecessary appliances when you leave the room.

Reduce use and recycle whenever possible:

  • Print on the backside of computer/copy paper or use it as scratch paper.
  • Use recycling receptacles on campus for your plastic and glass containers.
